PRINCIPAL REPORT

Dear Community,
12 Days to go until the end of the year and so much to squeeze into that time.
Enrolments/ delayed return or not returning to school in 2025? Please contact the office staff (administration@mooloolahss.eq.edu.au) if your child will not be present from the beginning of the school year e.g. extended holiday, not returning to Mooloolah State School.
Alternatively, if you are planning on enrolling with us in 2025, please contact the office on the same above address.
It is crucial that we know of all students who will be returning but may be away at the beginning of the school year as they are also counted in our total enrolment and will contribute to maximising the number of teachers and other staff that we are entitled to.
Term 4 Week 11
I would like to update you about the schedule for Week 11 this term - the final week of the school year (normally terms are 10 weeks in length). During Week 11 (Monday 9 December – Friday 13 December) our school will be providing supervision for students. This means students will not necessarily have their classroom teacher or be in their regular classroom.
We will understand if you choose to start your holiday plans early, however we would ask you to inform the office if this will be the case.
Key Dates
We have a massive 12 days ahead of us, some key dates to lock into your calendar are:
- 2 December- End of Year Awards Parade
- 4 December- Mooloolah Christmas Concert
- 6 December- Whole School Rewards Day and Report Cards go home
- 9 December- Yr 6 Graduation
- 10 December- Mooloolah’s got Talent
- 12 December- Yr 6 Bli Bli Aqua Park
- 13 December- Last Day of Term 4
We appreciate your support throughout the year and look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students in the final days of the term.
Stay safe, have fun.

HEAD OF CURRICULUM REPORT

Each semester, schools report on student achievement against the aspects of an achievement standard that have been taught and assessed during the reporting period. This on-balance judgement is based on the evidence of student performance in their assessment folio. Semester Two reports will be sent home via email on Friday 6th December. If your email details have changed, please contact the office as soon as possible.
The information contained in the End of Semester report is a summary of your child’s achievement and effort. Each student is awarded a level of achievement using a 5 point scale which varies across the years of schooling. Students awarded a C, Working With or Sound are considered to be successfully working at their year level standard.
Further explanations of these 5 point scales are provided for you in the tables below:
Prep
Applying (AP) | Making Connections (MC) | Working With (WW) | Exploring (EX) | Becoming Aware (BA) |
Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates a depth of conceptual understanding and a sophistication of skills from the standard that are able to be transferred to new situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they are making connections with the conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and are beginning to transfer them to new situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they are working with the conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and are able to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they are still developing the required conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and are beginning to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates an awareness of the required conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and these can only be applied with support. |
Years 1-2
Very High | High | Sound | Developing | Support Required |
Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates a very high conceptual understanding and application of skills from the standard that are able to be transferred to new situations. | Evidence in the student’s work typically demonstrates a high conceptual understanding and application of skills from the standard and that these are beginning to be transferred to new situations. | Evidence in the student’s work typically demonstrates sound conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and that they are able to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student’s work typically demonstrates that they are still developing the required conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and are beginning to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student’s work typically demonstrates the need for additional support. Conceptual understandings and skills from the standard can only be applied with support. |
Years 3-6
A | B | C | D | E |
Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates a sophistication of conceptual understandings and skills from the standard that are able to be transferred to new situations. | Evidence in the student’s work typically demonstrates a developing sophistication of conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and these are beginning to be transferred to new situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they have developed the required conceptual understandings and skills to meet the standard and are able to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they are still developing the required conceptual understandings and skills from the standard and are beginning to apply them in familiar situations. | Evidence in the student's work typically demonstrates that they have not yet developed the required conceptual understandings and skills to meet the standard and can only apply them in scaffolded situations. |

P&C NEWS
Uniform Shop - The uniform shop will be open on Tuesday afternoons for the rest of term. If you need uniforms for 2025, the uniform shop will be open on Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 January between 8am-11am both days. To assist with order processing, you can order your uniforms via Schoolshoponline.net.au in advance.
Christmas Concert and Raffle - Thanks to our amazing families and local businesses who have donated to our Christmas raffle. We have amazing donations from Mooloolah Meats, Mooloolah Beauty Spot, Mooloolah Chemist, Little Peaches and Melanie Dary's Cakes! Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the Christmas Concert.
We also have some great food options lined up, serving from 5pm:
Froth n' Kebabs, Froth n' Ice Cream, Neshama and the P&C running a sausage sizzle!
P&C Planning 2025 - Thanks to the people who were able to make our recent P&C planning day and/or completed our survey! We learnt that:
- you value the services P&C provides (tuckshop, uniform shop, discos, trivia night, BBQs, mothers and Father's Day stalls etc)
- the Trivia Night is a firm favourite, but we could also look at expanding our events to include more Disco's or a Family Fun Event
- families would like to see the P&C invest in more sports and music equipment, more technology or an upgrade to the senior play area
- a lot of people would love to get involved but lack the time to commit
From that we have been able to start planning some great events for next year, including some new ideas for events and fundraising. We are also planning on working with the school to identify a major project for us to work towards!
Next year we would love to have more people involved, even for one off events, so we will be aiming to publish our events earlier so that you can plan to help as you can. Watch this space or come along to our first meeting in February 2025!
P&C Funds - Every wondered what all these fundraisers are actually raising money for? Here's a breakdown from January to September this year:
- Between January and September, we raised $15,000, from our Mother's and Father's Day Stalls, BBQs and Bake Sales, Trivia Night, Discos and the Slime Run
- In that same time period, we raised over $7,000 from tuckshop and uniform shop sales. Much of these funds is then used for the outlay of uniform purchases and new tuckshop equipment, such as the new slushie machine. With the tuckshop and uniform shop making minimal profit, to keep these services cost friendly to our families
- This year we have funded: sports bursaries for our students who made state level sports (x 2 students), grade 6 end of year bursaries (x 2 students), Story Dogs, funding for Chappy, funding of camp and excursion buses, new sports shirts for our interschool sports teams and individuals, Under 8's Day BBQ, prep bags for the 2025 preppies and new sports equipment for the year 1&2's Totalling over $13,000
- Finally, the P&C has worked with the school to apply for a range of grants this year and continues to do so
Thanks for all your support in 2024!
