PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear Community,
I can’t believe how quickly the term is disappearing before our eyes. As we are midterm already can I urge parents to make sure that your child is at school every day, research shows that in Queensland, higher student attendance is associated, on average, with higher student achievement. Additionally, attending school every day helps children to build social and emotional skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience. With our teachers working hard to support students with their work and assessment it is vital they are at school on time and here. Currently our whole school attendance is sitting at 87% and by the end of the year I would love to be hitting 92 %. To achieve this, I really need your support in getting your child to school.
Storms:
With our storm season well and truly kicking off yesterday, I thought it might be pertinent to discuss 3:00 pm storm warnings or storms. Should we feel that a major storm is going to hit on bell time we will contact parents via text to pick students up early. In the event of a major storm hitting dead on 3pm we will not be letting students leave the school grounds in the middle of a major storm. Instead, all students will gather in the Hall and parents will be able to pick them up from there. This is to ensure safety for everyone.
Prep 2025:
We have started our Pre-Prep program by the school holding play based interviews with a meet and greet from myself. It was lovely to meet and get to know our first round of new families. I had the chance to introduce myself and what we bring as an amazing school. By the sounds of things, the children had an absolute ball next door while this was occurring. There was plenty of chatter and laughter. If you have a child who is due to start Prep next year and have not yet registered your interest with the school, I would encourage you to do so. Our Pre-Prep program has started with more to come in this term and positions are filling fast. Please call Andrea at our front office to register your interest or better still drop in and ask for an enrolment pack.
Positive behaviour:
There is a great feeling in the school at the moment with our students working really hard to get caught doing the right thing. We have had our first two rounds of parade draws with our Kookaburra Caught Ya tickets. Our lucky winners who earned their tuckshop voucher were over the moon. Remember you need to be at school to win this draw if your name is drawn out. All of these tickets then get tipped into a bigger container with everyone working towards earning a whole school reward day by the end of the term.
Being Safe:
We are so lucky that almost all our kids can ride, walk or scooter to school. Lately though we have had a number of students skating or riding to school without helmets on. I’d really appreciate it if you could check in with your child and insure they are wearing a helmet. It is proven that helmets save lives. Our three o’clock pick up zone is hectic. Can I ask that parents and students do not stop and chat at the front gate as this blocks the way for other people coming and going. I have mentioned to our Mooloolah kids that for safety they have to walk their scooters and bikes when entering and leaving the school gate.
Day For Daniel:
What an incredible turn out we had. It was lovely to see our kids, parents, grandparents, carers, pets and staff gather in a sea of red and make their way from the park to the school. In all we raised $236 from gold coin donations on the day. Thank you all so much for your support.
Next Fortnight:
Next week our 5/6 students have the amazing opportunity to hit the beach and do surf sills. Not only is it so important to learn how to stay safe at the beach but its also great fun. In week 7 we will be holding our Book Fair, more information in this space to follow.
Stay Safe, have fun.

Prep 2025
Last week we held the first of our Play-based enrolment sessions for 2025 Preps. Families attending an information session before children went off in a small group to do some activities with Ms McDonald and Mrs Mau. During this time, parents were able to have enrolment interviews with myself or Mrs Aspinall. It was a great start to our new enrolment process, getting to meet new families and some familiar families with their next Mooloolah SS student. If you have a child starting Prep at Mooloolah next year, and haven't booked in yet, please do so via the below link:

We are fundraising with tea towels
and creating lasting memories!
Dear Parent/Caregiver,
Mooloolah SS is running a Tea Towel Fundraiser to raise money for school resources.
Our limited-edition Tea Towel design will be made up of self-portraits drawn by all our children and staff. Just like a yearbook on a tea towel. The pictures and names will be arranged all together as a commemorative design then screen printed onto certified organic 100% cotton 50x70cm tea towels.
As well as being great for lint free dish drying, the tea towels look fantastic and are a long-lasting memento of your children and their friends. They make great gifts that are easily mailed to relatives, so make sure you order a few extras for family members and your keepsake box.
The kids just love seeing their artwork in print. By purchasing our tea towels you are not only receiving a practical keepsake, you’re also helping to achieve our fundraising goal, which would not be possible without your support!
The price per towel is $20 and makes a great Christmas gift for your families!
Information on how to pay and order, plus a sample of the tea towel will be posted on our P&C Facebook page next week and a flyer will also be sent home with your child.
HATS
Please ensure your child has a hat as the weather is warming up. You can purchase them from the uniform shop online and we will name the hats and deliver them to their classroom as well!
