Principal Report

Hello Mooloolah Community,
This is such a busy week, with our year 1 to 4 students all on an excursion to Mary Cairncross Park on Monday gone or Thursday. Our year 5/6 cohort will have attended Life Education earlier in the week and on Friday our P-4 students will attend a Brainstorm productions show. Next Wednesday Maleny State High School staff will visit our school to discuss year 6 transitions to high school. Yes, it's that time of year already that we begin to transition our year 6’s to high school, if as a parent you haven’t given this a thought yet, it is time to make those decisions around which high school your child will be attending and contact the high school to begin the enrolment process.
A huge congratulations to our Athletic Team who competed to the highest standard. By all accounts our Mooloolah students conduct, and sportsmanship was exemplary. Once again Mooloolah State School won the Glasshouse District Sports Highest Average Points. This makes it three years in a row. Well done to Mrs Muller and our athletics team, we really do punch above our weight.
Enrolment for 2026
If you are looking to enrol a prep student or know of friends wanting to enrol their students at our magic little school for 2026, now is the time to book an enrolment interview and school tour. Our school tours are running weekly on alternate days each week Mondays 9am and Thursdays 2pm. Our numbers are filling fast, and we would love to have you enrolled and ready to go for 2026.
School Opinion Survey
Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 22 August 2025. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve.
To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2025.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
Whole School Review
A huge thankyou to all those parents, students, community members and staff that spoke with the review team. It was largely a positive experience with great feedback on what we are doing well and our next steps to keep improving. I will receive a report in approximately a fortnights time which I will place on the school website for our community to read. In short our amazing staff know their students and how to help them be successful, across the board there is a high level of pride in our school. Behaviour expectations are clear with students being able to articulate these, as a school we value collegiality and collaboration, last but not least diversity and inclusion is celebrated and there is a high level of efficacy of practice. We really do have an amazing little school.

Premier's Reading Challenge
We have just over two weeks left in the Premier's Reading Challenge so there is still plenty of time to complete the challenge.
For a student to successfully complete the Premier's Reading Challenge they are required to read or experience the number of books indicated below:
- Prep to Year 2—read or experience 20 books.
- Years 3 to 4—read 20 books.
- Years 5 to 9—read 15 books.
Completed forms can be handed in to your child's teacher, or to the office.
To quote the fabulous Dr Seuss "You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book".
Reciprocal Reading
This term, 2K and 2/3T are learning comprehension strategies through a process called "reciprocal reading". Students in 4C have already been working hard on this all year, and were able to demonstrate reciprocal reading for our younger students in the hall a few weeks ago. This was followed by a joint lesson for 2K and 2/3T with Mrs Noe, Ms Bradburn and Miss T. Students have been learning how to make predictions when reading texts, using evidence from the text to support their thinking. Thanks 4C for sharing your learning with us!
Mary Cairncross Excursion
It's an exciting week for us as we hold not one but two excursions to Mary Cairncross Reserve! On Monday, 1J, 2K and 2/3T attended and had a wonderful time having a guided walk through the area, visiting the Discovery Centre, the Butterfly Walk and more. This links beautifully to our HASS learning, as we move into our Geography unit around places, their features and how to care for them. Our Year 2s, 3s and 4s are also linked this learning with English, as they learn to present their preference or argument about their preferred places.
Thanks,
Kirsten Noe

Business Manager Report

It is wonderful to be back seeing the smiling faces coming through the front office. Thanks to Maureen who performed a great job in my stead and has lifted QParents off the ground.
QParents
The transition from paper to electronic data capture is in full swing, with the Consent Management rolling out for our current excursions and incursions. The next electronic consent notifications to be raised are for the Years 5 and 6 camps, parents be ready.
Currently we have approximately 40% take up, I know we will reach full capacity soon as parents and carers sign up and realise how easy and convenient the app is to use.
- Permission consents are only a click away, as down the track there will be no more messy papers to pull out of the student’s bag to complete and return to the school
- Payment for invoices can be paid using this app which keeps a record of payment history
- No longer will our busy parents need to come into the school office or send cash in with the students to pay for excursions
- Student absences can be lodged in the app so parents/carers won’t have to phone the school, as the school receives automatic notification where we can update the students file immediately
- Student report cards will also be available for the current and previous years
In short, this app will be a time saver for us all. Invitations have been resent this week, please sign up.
If you are having trouble, please call the school or the Qparents help line. 13 74 68
