Term 3, 12th August 2024
Principal's Report
Our School Community,
Welcome to the first of many newsletters for 2024. We will endeavour to send out a fortnightly email to keep you informed on all things Mooloolah related. I am absolutely honoured to be the Principal of Mooloolah State School. Having been with Education Queensland for 29 years I have had the privilege to work right across our State. For the past 10 years I have been Principal of a number of Gympie schools and more recently of Currimundi State School. I strongly believe in doing all we can to ensure our Mooloolah kids experience success and enjoy stepping through our school gate in the morning. I feel fortunate to work with such a dedicated staff, and amazing community. After my first Mooloolah Trivia Night I knew I was in the right place. When I’m not working with our Mooloolah kids I still hobble around on the touch field, love to surf, kayak and a good game of NRL. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and working with our amazing Mooloolah kids.
Term 3 is off to flying start and I would love to thank our P&C for running brilliant Trivia Night, full of trivia, fun and a splattering of shenanigans. A huge congratulations to the Staff table who took out the event on the night.
Start planning your Book Week costumes for week 7 by all reports it is a massive event here at Mooloolah. This week we see our Year 6 cohort off to an amazing camp at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast. We are also holding Bullying No Way Week, Science Week and holding our Prep Immersion morning on Wednesday. During this immersion morning we will be inviting our early learning centres and, our preps for 2025 to engage with some fun lessons here in our school
Thank you to all of those who have already completed the Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys will remain open until Friday, 16 August 2024. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve.
To have your say, check your email for an invitation from the Department of Education titled School Opinion Survey for Parents and Caregivers, 2024.
Currently we are working hard on updating our Student Code of Conduct. Once we have a draft we are happy with, we will put it out for community consultation. I will inform you of when this is happening through email and our school sign.
Our school is working so hard in learning that last Semester we achieved 85.6 % A-C in English and 91 % A-C in Math across the school. Feel free to ask your child what they are learning at school? How are they going? And what is their goal. In class all students have been interacting with their learning walls and working really hard.
I look forward to continuing our great work,
Scott Thompson
From the Head of Curriculum
This term, 3/4S and 4C are working together to strengthen students’ comprehension abilities through reciprocal reading. In this practice, students work in small groups to read a text together, then each student has a role in unpacking the text. Roles include making predictions, clarifying the meaning of words, asking questions, summarising the text and leading the group. Students have been learning these important skills whilst also developing their ability to work collaboratively. Well done and keep up the great work!
From the Business Manager
Hello Parents and Carers, welcome to our new fortnightly Schoolzine Newsletter.

A reminder that if your statement balance is showing -$, your account is in credit and you have nothing to pay to the school. We were also lucky enough to have Out and About run child care on the night. Congratulations to our winning trivia table the Mooloolah School Teachers!
