PRINCIPAL REPORT

Hello Mooloolah Community,
The term is disappearing before our eyes, moving way too quickly. As a large majority of our students walk, scooter or ride to school, can I ask that you have a discussion with your child around road safety and etiquette on the footpaths. We will be reminding them at school to wear a helmet if on a scooter or riding. Today we had an incident where two of our older students were doubling on a bike and attempted to ride into the school grounds. In doing so they ran into one of our prep students who was entering school. Our front gate is extremely busy in the mornings and afternoons, all students are to get off their bike or scooter and walk into or out of the school grounds. I know the school is a very busy place and traffic flow and parking are not ideal, however I would very much appreciate you having a safety talk with your child and just a gentle reminder on how to travel safely on our roads.
DISTRICT SWIMMING
A huge congratulations to our Mooloolah Swim team who attended the Glasshouse District swim trials yesterday. For a little school we well and truly punch above our weight, we finished a very pleasing 5th overall. Both Sam Mills and Leroy Jenson were selected in the Glasshouse District Team to attend the Sunshine Coast Trials later in the term. Sam Mills and Zara Gannis were also both Age Champion runners up in their age levels. Also swimming strongly was Zane Bayliss and Mina Johns who finished second and third in several races. It's great to have some superfish in the school.
LOOLAH ATHLETES
A huge shout out to Jett Garrity, Tyler Gripske, and Collin Hallink who have all made the Glasshouse District Basketball team. Maci Corkin shone at netball trials and is the shadow player for the Glasshouse netball team.
Awesome work to all who were successful and to those who trialled keep up the hard work.
BEHAVIOUR
Behaviour is a major focus for the school this year. This fortnight our focus covers ‘Be Respectful’. Please have a chat with your child about the school rules which are ‘Active Learner, Respectful, Responsible and Safe’. This fortnight we will be focussing on having respectful interactions with our peers and using a respectful voice when speaking. The final parade this term will be our behaviour parade where we will acknowledge all those “Loolah Legends” who have move up a behaviour level to Merit Level. To attain Merit behaviour our students must not have received three grey cards and a level drop this term or been in reflection for a major incident.
Next term we will introduce our Hat Badges. There are 10 badges our Loolah Legends can earn and bring home to be ironed onto their hat. These badges will be attached to a criteria and will be presented to those students meeting that criteria and are flying high in a certain area. Can you please remember that if you receive a grey card letter from the school that it is a communication tool to let you know that your child may be having some behavioural issues in class or the playground. There is no consequence that comes with a grey card other than you being informed. Can I ask that you contact your child’s teacher to discuss their behaviour should you receive a grey card letter. If your child receives three grey card letters in a 10 day period they will drop a behaviour level and be asked to attend reflection during their lunch hour.
GRIP LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
This week our school leaders attended the Grip Leadership conference at Kawana. They attended with many other school students across the Sunshine Coast, participating in fun activities to develop their skills and confidence in leadership. Thanks to those parents who volunteered to drive students to and from the venue.

UNIFORM
Most students are following the uniform code. Some items that have needed to be addressed in the first 5 weeks are related to:
· Earrings: should be plain small sleeper or plain stud (not pictures or designs)
· Necklaces/chains: Should not be worn
· Socks: White ankle length socks without logos and colours (no black socks)
Please see the current dress code for clarification of expectations
Thanks for your supporting our friendly little school in the valley.
Cheers
Scott Thompson
HEAD OF CURRICULUM REPORT

I will be on long service leave for a two-week period from 3-14 March. I'm pleased to announce that Emma Craddock will be working in the HOD-C role during this time.
BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
From 10-13 March, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair at our school. This is a great opportunity to foster a love of reading with our children and purchase some books at great prices through our Book Fair Stall, before and after school. Additionally, there are raffles prizes to be won, and every purchase made goes towards raising valuable funds for our school.
We would also love it if any parents had a free morning or afternoon to help us run the stall. In the mornings this would be from 8:15-8:40 and in the afternoons this would be from 3:00-3:30. If you have some spare time we would greatly appreciate the help. If you are able to assist, please let us know by contacting us on 5413 6333.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS
There is one more parent information session this term, and we encourage parents to come along if the session is relevant for you:
