PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

What a year it has been!
I would like to sincerely thank the Mooloolah School Community for welcoming me, being so involved and committed to our Loolah Kids.
We have such a great feeling in our school, which is noticed the minute you step through our gate. Thank you to our wonderful P&C, and our small group of creative, giving volunteers. A huge thank you also needs to go out to the hard-working staff here at Mooloolah. They are committed to giving our students the best they can and continually go above and beyond what is expected of a teacher. Our school is humming and we have put in some exciting initiatives this year, which we are looking to build on in 2025. This really is a great school to be involved with. Thanks to our whole community, you help to make it what it is.
Our Christmas Concert was once again brilliant; everyone worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the evening a success. I will not name them for fear of missing someone out. It really was lovely watching our kids shine on stage.
FAREWELL YEAR 6
I want to take this opportunity to farewell our year six students who will leave us for high school next year. They have been great role models in our school. As individuals and as a group, the school, their families and themselves can be very proud of their conduct, how they have grown and behaved this year. I wish them every success at high school in 2025 and want them to know that they are more than welcome to drop in for a visit and let us know how they are going.
2025 LEADERS
Our school Leaders for next year have been selected and I cannot wait to work with them. Our leadership selection policy is working well and all candidates were of the highest calibre. They all strike me as being responsible, caring and hard working. I am very much looking forward to watching them grow in their roles. We will present our new leaders with their badges on a parade early in 2025.
2025 CLASSES
Your children will already know their classes for next year and you will receive a letter this week. As a state school, our class structure is reliant on day 8 numbers, while we would like to say classes will not change there is always the possibility that early in 2025, they may. We are very much aware of student wellbeing and the learning needs for your children to be successful here at Mooloolah. We will endeavour to make what we feel is the best decision, in regard to classes, to set your child up for success. Please do not call the office requesting class changes as you can understand this is a highly complicated and time-consuming process. If you have a pressing need for a class change you may email the school and we will consider, however please understand there have been many hours of planning and a huge amount of thought that has gone into our class structure for 2025. It is a complicated process and is not a simple fix to just change a student's class.
2025 FOCUS
Our Explicit Improvement Agenda for 2025 is to teach the Australian Curriculum, engaging and challenging all students consistently across the school. We will be focussing on reading and mathematics with our teachers delivering quality feedback to ensure our students are successful.
Our second priority will be to build a strong, inclusive, positive school-wide learning culture supported by the Student Code of Conduct. This new Code of Conduct will be available to the community in the new year. We will have a heavy focus on rewarding positive behaviour and already celebrating our amazing growth in this area. 2025 promises to be an exciting year.
Thankyou you all for a magic 2024, have a great break, a Merry Christmas, be safe and have fun.
See you all back here ready to rumble 28th January.
Scott Thompson

HEAD OF CURRICULUM'S MESSAGE

As per previous communications, Mooloolah State School is pleased to announce the implementation of a 1:1 device program in 2025. Some key points to note:
- The implementation of our 1:1 device program will commence in Term 2, 2025 for students in Year 4 only (regardless of composite classes.)
- Due to feedback from our community, we will be offering 2 options for our 1:1 device program as follows:
- BYOD - this option allows parents to buy a device for students to bring to school and use. Devices need to meet particular specifications (attached here)
- Laptop Hire Program. The laptop hire program has been designed to support all students in becoming connected. There will be a yearly cost associated with this program, likely to be between $150-200
- Information sessions will be held in Term 1, 2025 as well as further information in our newsletters.
- In the interim, if you are seeking to purchase a device for your student to use for Term 2, 2025, please find attached specification recommendations. If you are looking to purchase a device - please ensure you read these requirements carefully, as some devices are not compatible with the Education Queensland systems.
