PRINCIPAL REPORT

Hello Mooloolah Community,
Welcome back to term 2. Wasn’t it brilliant to see some sun over Easter. Our Loolah Legends have made a great start back and are all settled in their classes. I’m just happy we can be back out on our ovals playing.
If you haven’t booked your parent teacher interview for next Tuesday yet please hop online and do so by following the information in this newsletter. The bookings will be closed this Friday afternoon.
I am really looking forward to our school ANZAC Parade tomorrow morning our school leaders under the guidance of Shelly Lencz have been working super hard to make this a brilliant morning to celebrate our ANZACS. Please join us for our service tomorrow morning at 9am.
We have so much happening in our school that provides our students with a great start in their education. Our Mooloolah Enrichment Program kicks off next week. Students will get the opportunity to nominate for an activity in their interest area and work with our staff to learn and grow in this space.
Our Year 4 Digital Horizons Program has kicked off this term with our first fleet of laptops about to be issued to our year 4 students. We are super excited to explore and develop in this area.
On the 2nd of May we will be holding our school Cross-Country, fingers crossed for some fine weather.
We welcome Mrs Maureen Brennan into the role of Business Manager while Linda takes a well-deserved break in Europe.
Its nice to be back in the swing of things. We really do have the best school in Queensland.
Enjoy the sun, be safe.
Cheers
Scott Thompson

Mooloolah Enrichment Program & Fun Fridays
In Weeks 3, 4, 7 & 8 of this term, students in Years 3-6 will engage in our new Mooloolah Enrichment Program, whilst our P-2 students will have in class Fun Fridays. This will occur from 1:40-3:00 on these Fridays.
Students in 3-6 will choose an activity to be part of over this 4-week period. Activities to choose from will include sport (including interschool sport & practice for selected 5s and 6s), Japanese Art and Crafts, STEM, Citizen Science/Nature Observations, Guitar and Visual Art. We will explain these activity choices to our 3-6 students on parade next Monday, with students to allocate their preferences next week. Although we will do our best to match students with preferred activities, students may not receive their first preference in this round of the Mooloolah Enrichment Program. They will remain with the same activity over the 4 week period to allow them to have a deeper learning experience in their enrichment area. We can't wait to see our students in action!

A warm welcome back to Term 2 and I hope you all had a wonderful Easter school holiday.
P&C have two events coming up and we would love your assistance with these!
Election Day Bake Sale and Sausage Sizzle – Saturday 3 May - We are seeking people to donate baked goodies for our Election Day Bake Sale, scheduled for 3 May. All baked goods need to be dropped off to the school on Friday 2 May. The bake sale is always a successful fundraiser and an easy way to get involved in supporting the school if you are limited on time! We will also need volunteers to man the BBQ and sell both our baked goods and sausages between 8am and 1pm on the Saturday. Please direct message Katrina Mills via Facebook Messenger or email pandc@mooloolahss.eq.edu.au if you can assist in any way.
Mothers Day Raffle - We are seeking donations of goods and services for our Mother's Day Raffle! If you are a local business and would like to donate, please direct message Katie Tietjen or email pandc@mooloolahss.eq.edu.au. Tickets will go on sale from 3 May!
The Mothers Day Stall - Is planned for Thursday 8 May. More details to follow!
Tuckshop - Will be back on Monday week 2 of this term! Don’t forget to have your orders in by Sunday 5pm, via www.schoolshoponline.net.au
Subway - recommences this week on Thursdays, with orders due by 5pm Wednesday via www.flexischools.com.au
Uniform Shop – open Tuesdays 2:45pm – 3:15pm If you cannot collect your order at that time, please make a note of it in your online order and it will be packed and sent to the school office for your collection. Now is a great time to get your school jumper before the cold hits! We have plenty of sizes available. The uniform shop does not supply tracksuit pants or long bottoms, however many children purchase these in school colours from Big W, Target or Kmart. Orders for Uniform Shop can be placed via www.schoolshoponline.net.au
Year 6 Shirts 2025 – The shirts have now arrived and are being handed out.
Next P&C Meeting – Wednesday 21 May, 6pm in the staff room in the admin building! We hope to see you there.
Warm Wishes,
Katrina Mills

COMMUNITY NOTICES
On behalf of the Australian Air League Inc, we are currently recruiting for Officers (adult volunteers in uniform), as well as cadets for our Strathpine Squadron, offering the chance to engage in fun, educational, aviation-themed activities while developing key life skills.
The Australian Air League welcomes boys and girls from the age of eight, encouraging their interest in aviation while fostering leadership, discipline, confidence, and teamwork. We are a family-oriented organisation that values diversity and inclusivity and encourages parents and community members to volunteer and contribute to their local Squadron.
Our structured yet enjoyable program includes aviation theory, navigation, meteorology, weekend camps, ceremonial drill, leadership training, and even flying opportunities. Volunteers are provided with training to help mentor and support our cadets.
As a youth organisation, child safety is our priority. We maintain strict policies to protect all members, and all adult volunteers are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and complete child safety training.
